April 22, 2009 the annual Medford Police
Department Awards Banquet was held at the
Rogue Valley Country Club. Our keynote
speaker was Deputy Jennifer Fulford-Salvano
of Oregon County, FL. Deputy Fulford-Salvano
risked her life after responding to a home
invasion robbery where three children were
present in the home. Attempting to get the
children to safety, Deputy Fulford-Salvano
found herself in the middle of a gunfight.
Suffering seven gunshot wounds, Deputy
Fulford-Salvano was still able to engage in the
fight until the two gunmen were fatally
wounded and the children were safe. She
spoke at our banquet to tell her story. The
banquet was very well attended and highly
spoken of.

The second annual Children's Advocacy Center Benefit Match
was to be held, Saturday, May 30, 2009. The event was a huge
success last year, raising $2100.00 for Center.
However, due to a lack of participant sign-up the MPA has been
forced to cancel the match this year. We understand the difficulty
the current economy has placed on many individuals and realize
that foregoing the match this year is the best choice.
We will be re-instating the match next year with plans to make it
even better. We appreciated all the comments and compliments
from last year's shoot and have made adjustments to the
number of courses, types of courses and overall arrangement of
the match.
Thank you for those of you who showed interest. We hope to
see you next year!
